Kalium ferrocyanatum in 3 cases of severe climacteric metrorrhagia
Kalium ferr in 3 cases of severe climacteric metrorrhagia
Most of us do not have a thorough training in gynaecology and obstetrics. In a busy clinic, we are nevertheless confronted with acute situations in this field. As homeopaths we have a lot of approved indications at hand, which can save the patients from more harmful treatments. One can think of Conium in bad effects after bruises of the breast, Trillium pendulum after loosening of the symphysis during parturition or Myristica, which is nearly a specific for abscesses of the b glands. In the following three cases I want to direct your attention to Kalium ferr, which is very useful in copious, passive and painless metrorrhagias during the climacteric period.
Case 1: She is a 53 year old administrator who came with painless, dark, clotted metrorrhagia since 4 weeks ago. She is a simple woman (stage1), who just does her duties (stage 1+iron-series=kali), but always says the time is too short (stage 8+iron series= ferr) to master her daily work in the office. It started 1 year ago with irregular menses. There where periods of bleeding which lasted for weeks and then 3 to 4 months without any bleedings. She has fi, but though the gynaecologist did a uterine abrasion she still was bleeding. It was worse in the night and woke her at 3 a.m. (kali). “It is just like opening a water tap”. The gynaecologist finally suggested an immediate hysterectomy otherwise she could bleed to death. Her color preferences were blue (16D)1(indicating a kali-salt) and dark green (21E).
The bleeding stopped the same night after taking Kali-fcy C 200 diluted in water. Taking a teaspoon every half an hour.
Case 2 : She is a 47 year old cleaning lady who came with massive, copious bleeding for 10 days. She is a simple worker who is used to working fast and hard. She even works in her free time without complaining, but sometimes acts a little abrupt and imprudently (stage 1).
The bleeding was painless, came in gushes and was mixed with dark clots and mucus.
9 months ago another severe bleeding of 3 weeks standing was stopped by curettage.
She was very pale and weak due to the enormous loss of blood, but still insisted to continue with her work (ferr).
She likes orange (4-6C) and blue (15-16C), again a confirmation of the kalis.
After Ratanhia C 200 and an intramuscular injection of methergin there where no more clots, but the bleeding went on with the same intensity. The next day we gave Kali-fcy C 200 which stopped the bleeding at once.
Case 3: She is a 49 year old woman who called me from hospital where her gynecologist admitted her to undergo a hysterectomy the next day if the metrorrhagia would not stop. The problem started 1 year before when the menses increased in duration and intensity. This time the bleeding lasted for 4 days without interruption. Without any pain or cramps the blood just gushed out mixed with dark clots. And though she took the thickest sanitary napkins available the blood went trough and ran down her legs. She was very weak and the hemoglobin went down to 8.5 mg/dl. It reminded her of her first menses 14 years, which also ran down her legs during urination. At that time she was at a convent school. Neither the nuns nor her mother did prepare her. Her son once did beautifully on Hydr-ac.
She took Kali-fcy C 200 before going to bed. The bleeding stopped the same night and the hysterectomy was canceled. China C 30 was given for another week and she could quickly return to her work. She also likes blue (15C)
These 3 women are all simple workers who just do what is expected of them, sometimes even without reflection. This indicates stage one in the iron-series, which is kalium.
They all wanted to go on with their work even when the amount of work seemed too much. This suggests stage 8 and together with the bleeding and the weakness indicates ferr.
In the first case the well-known aggravation at 3 a.m. was a nice confirmation for a kali-salt.
They all chose blue as their favourite color. (15-16CD).
We found that all the patients who reacted well on kali-salts choose blue as their favourite color.
(15-16B) light blue (kali-ar, kali-p)
(15-16C) cobalt blue (kali-bi, -c, -chl,-cit,-fcy,-n,-s)
(15-16D) deep blue (kali-i,-m)
In the Complete Repertory kali-fcy is given in the third degree under; Female, genitalia, metrorrhagia passive and … metrorrhagia painless.
I would suggest to add it also to the rubric; Metrorrhagia, climacteric period - which already contains (… ferr(2), ferr-i, …kali-br, kali-c…..)
